Manufacturer: Actisense
Part Number: PRO-MUX-2
Our Ref.: 119586
PRO-MUX-2 is an intelligent NMEA0183 multiplexer from Actisense, with eight opto-isolated inputs and six isolated ISO-Drive outputs, a bidirectional serial port and an Ethernet port.
Eight OPTO-isolated inputs and six ISO-Drive™isolated outputs. Offering device protection and excellent flexibility, all in one product.
The PRO-MUX-2 is rugged, with a stainless steel housing, and provides isolation on all inputs and outputs. With eight NMEA 0183 inputs, six NMEA 0183 outputs, a bi-directional serial port and an Ethernet port, the PRO-MUX-2 is a perfect solution for larger leisure vessels, commercial shipping and is a great addition for systems that require type-approved devices.
The PRO-MUX-2 is designed to suit the majority of NMEA 0183 systems, from leisure through to class vessels.
The eight NMEA 0183 inputs can be routed to any of the six NMEA 0183 outputs, providing a highly customisable network. A bi-directional serial port and an Ethernet port allow for simple configuration and diagnostics using Actisense software.
The configuration tool is accessible via any popular web browser (using the Ethernet port) so there are no PC operating system compatibility issues to contend with. Using the web based configuration tool will allow the user to finely tune the exact data available on each output. The default setup is for all data to go to all outputs.
2-part pluggable connectors on the PRO-MUX-2 (screw or screwless terminals available) mean that new devices can easily be installed without the need to remove the PRO-MUX-2 from its mounted location. A professional DIN rail mounting mechanism keeps the PRO-MUX-2 secure in high vibration environments. Helpful LEDs indicate power, data in, data out and the alarm status to aid diagnostics.

Use Case
Multiplexers are typically used to combine multiple instruments data output into a smaller number of outputs. As you can’t connect two talkers to one listener directly, a multiplexer allows for the data to be output through one talker connection.
An example of this could be on a commercial vessel with multiple NMEA 0183 GPS, wind, AIS and depth instruments. To get all of this data combined and sent to a display or converted via an NGX to NMEA 2000, a PRO-MUX-2 can be used.

With the PRO-MUX-2, the data can be filtered, passed or blocked and monitored, giving greater flexibility and control over all instrument data.
