Silentwind supplies “green energy” at Volvo Ocean Race 2017

Silentwind and Volvo Ocean Race have a close relation since 2014. With about 100 days to go, we’re pleased to inform that Silentwind Generator will be supporting, for the second time, the Volvo Ocean Race competition.

This time, our wind turbine will be on the boat yard, supplying energy for several facilities/equipment during the competition - for example, to supply energy for a. The Silentwind’s partnership is related with the Sustainability Programme promoted by Volvo Ocean Race (VOR). The VOR has launched a major Sustainability Programme for the 2017-18 edition and beyond, while outlining a series of commitments that focus on ocean health.

Since 1973, the Volvo Ocean Race has been recognized as the biggest yacht race around the world. Held every three years, the 2017-18 edition will be the longest course in the history of the race (45,000nm) and it will cross four oceans ant take in 12 major cities: Alicante, Lisbon, , Cape Town, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Auckland, Itajaí, Newport RI, Cardiff, Gothenburg and The Hague.

The Race will start on 22 October 2017 from Alicante and finishes eight months later in The Hague
